I’ve been collecting comics for several years now and still I feel like an outsider among other collectors – because I don’t like superheroes and was never a Marvel fan! (“Marvel Zombies” being the exception) I never understood the fascinations for all those masked guys in silly costumes and with strange names (Who thought that a name like “Green Lantern” would be a good idea?). Of course I do own some superhero comics but I was never too impressed with them. That whole Marvel world in particular will always remain a mystery to me. I really don’t want to step on anyone’s toes or hurt anyone’s feelings but, frankly, the stories are unbelievably uninspired and the drawings aren’t very impressive for me either. Conveyor-belt products, of course, if you consider how many booklets are thrown at the market. Simply look at the list of Marvel superheroes at Wikipedia! I recently found out that there is a Spider Woman… WHUT?

I do have some age-old booklets from the seventies and eighties; including the first two comics I ever read: Tarzan and Spiderman. But that happened for purely nostalgic reasons. It was ok to read them as a kid but today, as a grownup, I definitely prefer other kinds of stories and artwork.
